Hi there. There are plenty of places to climb, but you will need transport to get to most. All our climbing is traditional so you need to place nuts / cams yourself and bolts / pitons are not to be used.

There is a small bolted crag in Eshaness, in the North West of Shetland, but it is a small venue only really suitable for an evening. A topo is available free here: http://www.climbshetland.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Raasmi.pdf

There are a few miniguides for other crags for download at http://www.shetlandmarket.com/ClimbShetland/ and a free wiki site (not complete) at http://shetlandclimbing.wetpaint.com/ that has basic info on other crags.

The closest climbing to Lerwick is on Ness of Sound and there’s some nice short routes on good sandstone there. 20 minute walk from the town centre.
