Right – that’s 2011 out of the way. What are we going to do next weekend? Climbing at the Grind perhaps?

Hmm, well not quite sure the Grind will be prime condition! But I’d be up for something if the weathers ok. The Coall is ok in cold and damp weather – there are a few routes you can climb in big boots and its a laugh.

I should be able to make it.
Looking at the forecast the coall looks like the better bet.
I can give a couple of folk from up north a lift if needed.

The Coall is in between Quarff and Fladdabister.
A number of faces and stacks up to 60ish meters with a wide range of grades and rock quality.
I know from experience that some of the faces are climbable in force 10 westerly wind with showers.
(Stormtrooper should only be done in high winds and hail for that authentic first ascent experience).

Oh yes. Cheers Tommy, I thought I’d been there.
I was climbing with J-Lo whilst Andy, Pete and Julie were climbing a loose sea stack. I think there’s one of Pete’s carabiners on the top from the escape (if any one wants it!).
I’d be up for that on the Saturday.

Saturday is it then? The effin’ Coall? Oh all right, at least I’ll be able to go bouldering at Almscliffe next week if the weather’s decent.

Got my pad anyway. I’ll probably see more of the local climbing walls. 10 is fine for me, usual parking spot?

I’m getting lift from Andy. If it’s REALLY wet tomorrow you won’t need any chalk!

No, but I see you did!! Great day actually, even climbed a route before going to the pub… Forgot how shocking those routes looked but really nice climbs. Me and Tommy did Stromtrooper, Pete and Julie did a route to the left of Can’t Quit Won’t Quit and Stu and Andy did Gloves Come Off. Got quite wet but at least the wind was off us. There were even a few dry holds on Stormtrooper!
