Venue confirmed as Grind o the Navir on Sunday.
I’m up for either, count me in.
I’m working to about 4pm, but up for something afterwards.
Bannamin in Burra or Fidlar Geo beyond Walls? I’m at Aith, so Fidlar is closer option.Sorry, I’m not going to be available Sunday after all.
Any other club members available this coming week to give these guys a taste of outdoors climbing?
I might have time on either Monday or Thursday evening for a Bannamin or Bressay outing. I should have a better idea of availability tomorrow afternoonHow about Sunday at Fidlar Geo on the westside. If weather doesn’t suit we could bail to Aith.

Splendid idea – sorry for late reply!
Kettlaness at Bannamin in Burra is a good venue, as is east side of Bressay.
Who else would be interested?I like the sound of that. I probably can’t get there until about noon. Gareth, how would that time suit you? I could come via Weisdale from Scalloway. I’ve a spare helmet and harness.
Hi Robroy. The public session has now been moved to Wednesdays. So the first will be on Wednesday 4 July. There will be a few club members there, plus other people, so you will definitely have someone to climb with!
Hi Petre. Are you able to meet at East Voe marina, near Scalloway by 7pm? There’s a short route in Burra we could climb.
Hi Tam
Annual membership is £26.25, but there is a sliding scale, so joining in May, the cost is £25.25.
Membership form can be downloaded here http://www.climbshetland.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/CS-Membership-Form-2018_19.pdfClement, if you are available later today – give me a shout and we’ll get something sorted, either for today or Saturday.
Right. Great weather. Anyone fancy a short climb tonight, say from 5:30pm?
Options include Ness of Sound, Kettlaness (Bannamin to the geographically challenged) or a small route in Burra a mile south of Mail beach. We were all walkers at some point…
Yeah, poor lad got himself stuck clambering, not climbing.
This is the only indoor wall in Shetland. At the moment SRT (Shetland Recreational Trust) is running a series of taster sessions aimed at people who have never climbed before. The sessions run Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, and booking is essential.
We hope that SRT will be able to open it for public sessions, soon, hopefully within the next few weeks. I’ve a meeting with West mainland Leisure Centre tomorrow to discuss scheduled public sessions.
I’ll drop you an email about club membership details too. Thanks Clement. I’m based in Scalloway, where will you be based?
I’m sure we can meet up at some point – there’s not a lot in the way of sport routes in Shetland. The good news is there is no shortage of trad. routes at all grades.
The wall isn’t fully open for public access at the moment, but hopefully this will be sorted in a few weeks time.
Cheers
