New Bouldering Blog
The auld rock bouldering blog page is now up and running and will follow all the bouldering developments from around the island. Its aim is to inspire a few more climbers to get out and enjoy some of the quality bouldering these areas have to offer. Click here to see the blog, and click on the follow tab on the blog page to keep up to date. Cheers. P Whitty

Profit for 2009!!
I've just finished going through the finances for this year (October 2008 to September 2009) and we have made a profit of over £400. This brings out of the red and to a balance of around £250 at the start of this year.
The balance figure still needs to be confirmed and checked as I think it may go up once I get final bank statements in, but however it turns out, its great news for the club.
New Holdz
As you may have noticed, we have changed some of the routes at the wall and also added some fresh new holds.
About 6 routes were changed on the wall, some made slightly easier, and then 2 (soon to be 3) routes have been added using the new purple and white swirly holds. These are superb new holds and, although these ones are suited to harder routes, we will certainly look to buy more from Holdz in the future as they are far better than the Entreprise ones we're currently using.
We're aware that some of the holds are quite dirty now, and we are planning to have a full change around and clean of the wall and holds in October. It'll be a 2 day event with probably a video night / meal inbetween.

Ronas Voe Weekender
The annual Climb Shetland weekend climbing and camping trip has passed successfully. Ronas Voe was the venue chosen this year after 2 years at da Grind o’ da Navir. The climbing area consists of a number of short escarpments of compact pink granite set into the side of Ronas Hill, this gives the climbs more of a mountain feel to them. The rock is of good quality for the most part and lends itself to a technical style rather than brute force and ignorance.
